14 Myths about teachers in India.

Status of teachers in India [Earlier][Contemporary]
Teachers play a very important role in shaping any countries future by educating children. In India, teachers have given a very respected position called them Guru in ancient time but now the importance of teachers become less because of Technology. When we talk about the early period during the period of Mahabharata Ekalavya an archer, he cut his thumb for Dhronacharya, his Guru [teacher] for presenting as Gurudhakshana [teaching fees]. Earlier students give lots of respect to the teachers and for seeking education did a lot of hard work and also the house chores of their gurus. But when we talk about now, the role and status of teachers have changed a lot. As in this competitive world, the teacher had a lot of stress because every parent wants their children to score good marks and this creates pressure for the teacher. Other changes in the respect which teacher received earlier are missing because, a lot of social media platforms, create memes and funny videos related to teacher's image, which somehow portrait the wrong image about teachers. Woman as a sexy teacher and all such images. Which shaming the teaching profession. The teaching field is totally changed and a lot of crime which performs by a teacher like Man assaults lady teacher inside the classroom, heldPolice book music teacher for abusing a 17-year-old student and many more.

14 Myths about teachers in India, teachers, guru, teaching

So let's discuss 14 Myths about teachers in India.

  • Woman and Teaching:- The biggest myths about the teaching field is it is connected by gender. In India, before independence women have to face a lot of restrictions like social restrictions, women not allowed to do jobs but after independence, due to struggle of many social reformers and due to industrialization and urbanization lot of changes had come in the status of women they are allowed to do jobs and but also they have to do the household work they can do a job like teacher but they not abe to choose professions like a police officer, pilot, engineer all these are dominant by the man only. The jobs like teaching and nurse are some jobs for women, which is fixed for the woman. This is stereotypes selection of job make the woman to only selected that jobs like teaching and so many women for achieving financial independence and to support in families economic upliftment they engaged in teaching field but not have that interest. This is how many women engaged in teaching and it becomes woman-dominated. Then as time changed, the limitation regarding professions are limited, many males can also have teaching institutes where they engaged in teaching, and women can be also in Army, Navy and all. So this is the biggest myths, Teaching is meet for woman only.
  • Being a teacher is so easy:- People believe that teaching is a very easy profession as compared to any other profession so not much importance is given to teachers. But in reality, teaching is the toughest profession and this is the profession that gives birth to the Future doctors, pilot Engineers, etc.
  • . Underestimate job:-  People think that teacher only needs to teach nothing else they have to do but, in reality, the teacher plays a very important role in everyone's life as a childhood teacher school teachers, it can be music teacher, Yoga teacher any teacher they play a very important role in our future. For e.g., I want to give an example of mine. I had a Math teacher she hit me very badly for no reason that experience make me hate maths subject and this is the reason I hate math.
  • No importance of teacher in the development process of the child:- It means the parents who believe that teacher has no role in child development, and also teacher who feels the same is the biggest myth. As in development process teachers plays an important role, it can be social, moral, motor, language, creativity anything as we spend precious time of early years in school and teachers are the one who makes an effort to sharpen in our skills and knowledge and creativity through lots of activities. That's why pre-school teachers play a very important role in a child's life. They set the base for child further education.
  • High payment scale- Many choose the teaching profession because it gives a high salary and provides economic supports. But it is also a myth the fact is totally opposite to this. This job was too much work and less salary. In India is pay-scale was very low it starts from 5000-6000 for the freshers there are no Jobs available for a fresher. Recruitment in govt. schools are really difficult.
  • Teachers are very strict:- We always have such negative images of teachers, thanks to all those memes, and youtube videos who portrait such images about teachers. I personally believe that not all teachers have the same nature. Some teachers are very punctual and want their students to achieve success so they are strict so their students to work on time. The nature of every teacher differs.
  • Teaching is a very relaxing and comfortable job:- Other degree holders believe that teachers have the only a job to teach from a book, take attendance, check papers and be relax no work pressure to home. But in reality, it is actually the opposite it is a very stressful job, the teacher has a lot of pressure on the head to complete portion make the student do well in the exam. This long hours job, back to back classes, stand and teach, pressure on the vocal mechanism, pay attention to every student, make sure they able to understand, special attention to slow learners, this creates mental pressure on teachers.
  • Teachers have favorites:- Yes I agree with this, but again not all teachers are the same, there are teachers who have their favorites who are very active and energetic. Some teachers use their students to do their work and some treat everyone the same.
  • Teachers do only teaching:- It's not like that teacher are also engaging in a lot of activities in school colleges apart from teaching they have to prepare the students for annual days, for many competitions, preparing mark sheets and so on. As time changes the role of a teacher is also change it is not limited to the classroom.
  • Teachers forget their students:-  I think not all the teachers do so. It may be because of their age they can forget student's face, but there are some teachers who remember their students by name or surname.
  • Less-educated can also become teacher:- The biggest myths which I heard the most is anyone can become a teacher. No specific qualifications are required and so on. The need for specific qualification is not much required in an earlier time when no such importance is given to education, but now education is very important and Technology makes everything complicated for primary teacher 1 year to complete the graduation it's compulsory and has to pass certain exams as well.
  •  Technology makes teachers life easier:- As everyone knows Technology has its bone and bane. Everyone will concentrate on bone, but also this technology has it's negative effect as well. In the teaching field, Technology makes their work more complicated, now teachers are replacing through the smart-classroom and become secondary in the classroom.
  • Teachers know everything:- Teachers are also a human being, not a machine, through their experiences their knowledge becomes wider and wider. They also need to prepare for their concepts, they also give exams.
  •      Teachers believe in Rote learning:- Offcourse not, teacher explain their concepts very well to their students and they make sure the concept of every child is clear. The teaching style of every teacher is different.

This is 14 Myths about teachers in India. which we discussed today in this post.
